The family of Alaska pol-ebrity Sarah Palin is back in the news and not in a good way.
Alaska Court records reveal the Saturday arrest of Palin’s 28-year-old son on charges of felony burglary and two misdemeanors – assault in the fourth degree and criminal mischief four with property damage.
Court records indicate Track was arraigned this morning in Palmer. Details are not yet available.
Track has a history of problems.
His girlfriend said at the time she was afraid he would shoot himself with an assault rifle during the blow up.
Track later negotiated a plea deal that dropped most of the charges filed against him. He agreed to plead to a charge of misconduct involving a weapon and enter an alcohol-treatment program run by the state Veterans Court.
Track’s girlfriend, Jordan Loewe, late last year split with Track and filed for custody of their child. Court records indicate custody was granted in April after a contested hearing and Track was ordered to pay child support.
A child protective order had been dismissed about a month earlier and the records of the case sealed.
Track and sister Bristol have struggled with broken relationships and other problems throughout their adult lives. Both were big players in a 2014 Anchorage street fight that made national news.
Anchorage Police described that incident as a “drunken brawl” involving most of the Palin family, including Todd and Sarah, but no charges were filed.
“(Matthew) McKenna said it was Todd Palin’s birthday, his birthday, and his twin brother’s birthday,” an Anchorage Police report of the fight said. Todd and Mark McKenna, Matthew’s twin, are both past winners of the 2,000-mile Iron Dog snowmachine race, the longest and toughest event in the sport of snowmobile racing.
The police report described Track as shirtless, “angry and intoxicated.”
The report also indicated the young man was confused. Track was at a party in South Anchorage, but thought he was in Eagle River, an Anchorage suburb 15 miles north of the state’s largest city.
Track and most other witnesses to the melee seemed to agree things got out of hand after someone knocked down a friend of Palin family.
“Track said he then confronted one of the guys and said he would fight him. So Track took off his shirt to fight,” the police report says. Track said he was then attacked by a group of “skinny, white males.”
After Track’s arrest last year, Sarah suggested he suffers from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
